CYBER SECURITY JOBS FAQs
Cyber security salaries can vary widely depending on the role, location and type of company. A cyber security analyst could expect to earn €65,000 at junior level and up to €95,000 at senior level. On the more advanced end, a security architect could earn up to €120,000 and beyond.
There is a multitude of cyber security vacancies. The shift to remote working boosted demand for cyber security skills, especially in cloud security and base level networking.
With remote, flexible and hybrid working here to stay, safeguarding the digital assets we need to do our jobs effectively will become more critical than ever. Organisations require the right professionals to ensure connections are secure, endpoints are protected and application data encrypted - wherever people are working from.
Cyber security professionals require certain hard skills. At an entry level, MTA Security Fundamentals, ISACA CSX Cyber Security Fundamentals Certificate, CompTIA Security+, GIAC Information Security Fundamentals (GISF) and (ISC)2 Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) are great for core knowledge.
A solid understanding of the principles of networking will also always be useful – take Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), for example. There are also clear paths for key areas of Penetration Testing, such as CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) and CREST accreditations.
Across the cyber risk/information security domains, an understanding of information security best practice frameworks is highly beneficial. For example, ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, NIST, PCI-DSS and GDPR. CRISC and framework specific qualifications are highly beneficial, such as ISO27001 Implementor.
Having a firm grasp of AI could be important as a cyber security expert. Artificial intelligence is set to be a vital tool for helping cyber security experts stay ahead of threats. Through emerging technologies like machine learning, AI is trained on where the risks of cybercrime lie.
Eliminating time-consuming research tasks and providing detailed analysis of threats will give you, as a professional, the time you need to make crucial decisions and launch a response to remediate them.
