Transport & Logistics Leader – Oversee daily logistics, lead a team, and manage client accounts

Your new role

  • Efficiently manage and run the transport department, ensuring smooth daily operations
  • Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety Regulations and company safety procedures
  • Follow and enforce ISO Quality Management System standards
  • Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) consistently based on work and location
  • Process customer quotations in coordination with the General Manager
  • Monitor and manage transport bookings via email, fax, and telephone, maintaining accurate records in the Freight Management System (FMS)
  • Liaise with customers to confirm customs clearance, delivery documents, and port releases as needed
  • Access and update shipment status in the Port of Cork CTMS system remotely.
  • Allocate vehicles and manage transport staff to meet delivery and collection requirements
  • Monitor daily vehicle operations to ensure compliance with customer requests and regulatory requirements, including hazardous cargo documentation
  • Address customer complaints and queries promptly and professionally
  • Coordinate driver holiday schedules to maintain adequate staffing levels
  • Monitor internal email systems to support effective communication and workflow
  • Report fleet, equipment, or plant defects promptly to the Fleet Maintenance Manager or management team.
  • Report and document any workplace accidents immediately, by completing required forms.
Authority:
  • Train, discipline, and recruit transport staff as needed
  • Delegate responsibilities and allocate jobs to drivers and vehicles
  • Negotiate annual agreements when required
  • Monitor vehicle operations and driver working hours to ensure compliance with regulations

What you'll need to succeed
  • 5+ years' proven experience in transport or logistics coordination
  • Strong organisational and planning skills to manage daily and weekly schedules
  • Ability to lead and delegate tasks to a small team effectively
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction and internal coordination
  • Familiarity with freight systems and transport documentation
  • Understanding of health & safety and compliance standards in logistics environments
