You will be joining a large national organisation responsible for delivering essential public services across Ireland. Their finance function plays a key strategic role, ensuring high‑quality financial management, compliance, and performance across the business.
Your new role
As Tax Accountant, you will report to the Tax Operational Lead and take ownership of day‑to‑day transactional tax compliance activities. You will work closely with colleagues across Finance, Accounts Payable, Procurement, and wider business units to ensure all tax obligations are met accurately and on time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing VAT, RCT, PSWT, PAYE and Corporation Tax returns
- Reconciling tax returns to accounts and maintaining compliance with legislation
- Providing guidance to internal teams on tax matters and transaction processing
- Supporting tax reporting requirements and liaising with senior finance stakeholders
- Monitoring tax risks, identifying opportunities, and implementing improvements
- Managing tax processes related to goods imported from the UK
- Supporting training, advisory work and responding to tax queries as they arise
- Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation
This is a varied role with strong visibility across the organisation and excellent scope to contribute to ongoing process improvements.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience across key Irish tax areas: VAT, RCT, PSWT, CT and payroll taxes
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex tax queries
- Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate with stakeholders
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Experience with ERP systems; Oracle is an advantage
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
