Site Engineer - Housing Developer

Your new role

To carry out all site Engineering activities, in the following – setting out, setting levels, supervising all groundworks and to assist the Site Manager in the day to day running of the Contract Project for 245 Residential Units in Mullingar. This will include the supervision of direct employees and subcontractors, materials management, quality management, surveying, Health & safety management, and general administration and document control.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Technical Support: Assist in carrying out setting out activities for Houses, Duplexes and Apartments, and associated roads and services. This will include the accurate setting out of foundations, rising walls, drainage, kerbs, columns, beams & walls and the ongoing supervision of block layers, steel-fixers, shuttering carpenters and concrete pours.
  • Administrative Support: Taking levels, surveying works & keeping records of ongoing works carried out by subcontractors.
  • Materials Management : Assist in liaising with the Site Manager and Purchasing Manager (at head office) to ensure correct specification, quality and quantity of materials are on site as and when required,, supervising the issue of materials to ensure wastage is kept to an absolute minimum.
  • Irish Water: Assist in liaising with Irish Water Field Engineers and meeting on site. Take overall responsibility for the Irish Water QA folder and record all information as required, including producing as-built drawings.
  • Supervision: Assist Site Management in monitoring and management of site operatives, both direct and subcontractors.
  • Quality and Building Control: Assist in management and co-ordination of quality and building control plans at various stages throughout the works.
  • Health & Safety: Assist in the induction of site operatives, assist in carrying out H&S audits, monitor and manage adherence to PPE requirements and health & safety obligations.


What you'll need to succeed
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering
  • 3+ years’ experience working as a Site Engineer on residential, commercial, or civil projects
  • Proven experience with setting out, levelling, and surveying using Total Station, GPS, or similar equipment
  • Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and method statements
  • Experience overseeing quality control, inspections, and ensuring works are delivered to specification
  • Sound understanding of health & safety requirements, with experience implementing site procedures
  • Confident liaising with site management, subcontractors, consultants, and design teams
  • Ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently on site.
  • Well‑organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a live site environment
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and basic reporting/document control
  • A full driving licence and eligibility to work in the region
