Senior Resident Engineer role with leading national Engineering Consultancy - 12 month contract

Your new company

A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer for a major public infrastructure project in Waterford City. This is a high-profile scheme involving a multi-modal transport hub and associated railway flood defence works.


Your new role

As Senior Resident Engineer, you will join a site-based team responsible for the supervision of key infrastructure works. Reporting to the Project Resident Engineer, you will oversee delivery of both transport hub and flood defence elements. The project includes the construction of a new transport interchange and flood mitigation works along a railway corridor.

Key elements of the scheme include:
  • Transport hub incorporating rail, bus, car, cycling and pedestrian facilities
  • New station building and integrated footbridge (approx. 1,200m²)
  • Two railway platforms (approx. 200m each)
  • Public plazas and associated infrastructure
  • Pedestrian railway overbridge and approach works
  • Utility diversions and new service connections
  • Flood defence works including sheet pile walls, cut-off barriers and reinforced concrete structures

Key responsibilities

You will be responsible for the supervision of:

  • Marine and land-based civil engineering works related to flood defences
  • Building and civil works associated with the transport hub and public realm

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A Level 8 degree in Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 15 years’ postgraduate experience in civil engineering/building works
  • At least 10 years’ site-based experience
  • Proven experience as a Senior Resident Engineer (or equivalent) on projects exceeding €10m
  • Strong experience administering Public Works Contracts
  • Experience working on projects near environmentally sensitive watercourses
  • Experience reviewing Environmental Operating Plans
  • Strong record-keeping and reporting experience
  • Excellent knowledge of health & safety legislation
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng MIEI or equivalent)
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • High level of proficiency in written and spoken English
