Senior Quantity Surveyor Required – Leading Civil Contractor - €90,000 - €110,000 + Hybrid / Package.

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Tier 1 civil engineering contractor delivering major infrastructure works across Ireland and the UK. The successful candidate will play a key commercial role across high‑value projects, ensuring effective cost management, contractual compliance, and strong financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management
  • Manage the full commercial function on civil engineering projects ranging from €10m–€150m+ in value.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage subcontractor packages including procurement, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Lead cost forecasting, budget control, and project cash-flow reporting to senior management.

Contract Administration
  • Administer contracts under forms including NEC, FIDIC, and Public Works Contracts.
  • Prepare and defend contractual claims, variations, compensation events, and time-related claims.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records aligned with contract requirements and audit standards.

Financial Control & Reporting
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities, advising project leadership on mitigation and optimisation strategies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and manage payment applications with clients.

Project Collaboration

  • Work closely with project managers, planners, engineers, and site teams to ensure commercial alignment with operational activities.
  • Support the tendering team by providing cost input, build-ups, and early-stage cost planning where required.
  • Represent the commercial team in progress meetings, client meetings, and subcontractor negotiations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years’ experience in a QS role, ideally with heavy civil engineering projects (roads, earthworks, bridges, utilities, structures).
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, and/or Irish Public Works Contracts.
  • Proven track record of successful commercial management on large-scale infrastructure schemes.
  • High level of proficiency with cost-management software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
