Your New Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility for managing costs and contracts on major construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure financial control and contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Cost Planning & Budget Control: Prepare detailed cost plans, budgets, and forecasts for large-scale projects.
- Tendering & Procurement: Manage tender processes, evaluate bids, and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
- Contract Administration: Oversee contract documentation, variations, and claims in line with industry standards and client requirements.
- Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or compliance.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate commercial risks, ensuring robust financial governance.
- Reporting: Produce accurate monthly reports, cash flow projections, and final accounts for senior management and clients.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Support and guide junior surveyors, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
This is a senior-level position where your expertise will directly influence project profitability and client satisfaction.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a quantity surveying role, with at least 3 years at senior level within a main contracting environment.
- Strong knowledge of Irish construction contracts (e.g., Public Works Contracts, RIAI, NEC).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in cost management software and MS Office Suite.
- A results-driven mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
