Your new role


As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of multiple residential developments from pre-construction through to final account. You will work closely with internal teams, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Working closely with internal teams—including project managers, site teams, and finance—as well as external stakeholders such as subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants, you will ensure that each development is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Your expertise will be key in managing valuations, variations, procurement strategies, and cost reporting, while maintaining strong relationships and clear communication across all parties.
This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive approach, commercial acumen, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will also contribute to strategic decision-making, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives within the commercial team.


Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting for residential developments
· Manage procurement processes including tendering, contract negotiation, and appointment of subcontractors
· Oversee valuations, variations, and cost reporting throughout the project lifecycle
· Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage risk effectively
· Provide commercial input into design development and value engineering
· Mentor junior members of the commercial team and support their professional growth
· Liaise with project managers, site teams, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
· Prepare and present detailed financial reports to senior management

What you'll need to succeed


  • Holds a degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Brings over 5 years of professional experience, with a strong record of managing Subcontractor and Client interactions related to valuations, variations, final accounts, and cost reporting.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of specifications, bills of quantities, and technical drawings.
  • Highly skilled in extracting quantities from drawings and coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain precise quotations within required deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and various Quantity Surveying software tools.
  • Demonstrated success in both Commercial and Residential construction projects.
  • Extensive experience in managing budgets effectively.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a talent for delivering and clarifying accurate reports.
  • Excellent organisational and time management capabilities, adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to structure the workday around priorities and tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Adaptable and strongly committed to achieving successful outcomes.
  • Collaborative team player, able to work effectively with diverse individuals.
