Senior Project Engineer
Role: Senior Project Engineer
Contract: 12 months
Location: Little Island, Cork
Onsite role
Competitive rate – (PAYE / UMB / LTD)
Here at Hays, we are supporting a global Pharmaceutical company who are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join its Global Engineering & Technology team at the Little Island manufacturing site in Cork. This role offers the opportunity to lead and deliver a range of engineering projects within a highly regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing engineering projects from concept through to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in compliance with GMP, EHS, and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the delivery of engineering and capital projects across the site.
• Develop project scopes and support capital approval processes.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate project activities with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, MSAT, Validation, Facilities, and other site functions.
• Work closely with contractors, suppliers, and external service providers.
• Support commissioning, qualification, and start-up activities for new equipment and systems.
• Investigate and resolve engineering-related deviations and technical issues.
• Prepare, review, and maintain engineering documentation, including P&IDs and project reports.
• Monitor project performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all activities are completed in accordance with GMP, GDP, EHS, and site procedures.

Candidate Requirements
Essential
• Degree qualification in Engineering or a Science-related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience delivering engineering or capital projects within a GMP-regulated industry.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable
• Experience within an API pharmaceutical manufacturing site.
• Formal Project Management qualification.
• Six Sigma or other continuous improvement/problem-solving training.
• Experience working within a multinational pharmaceutical organisation.
