Senior Project Civil Engineer role with leading Cork-based Engineering Consultancy

Hays has been retained to recruit a Senior Project Civil Engineer for our client, an established Engineering Consultancy.


Your new role

This role involves working within our client's design team, working on a range of projects and liaising with clients, contractors and stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

  • Work on projects including Commercial, Retail, Hotel, Residential, Educational and Industrial.
  • Carrying out designs, inspections and planning applications.
  • Act as liaison between design team and stakeholders of projects.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Production of Drainage/Utility/Service design including:

- Stormwater Design
- Foul Sewer System
- Watermain Design
- Bulk Earthrworks & Levels
- Lines/Sign and Traffic Calming (within residential developments) - DMURS compliance.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Good communication skills, especially the ability to translate designs into comprehensive drawing/information for construction.

  • Experience in leading the civil engineering site development design and construction projects in (primarily residential projects ranging in scale from 50 to 500 units).

  • Knowledge of the requirements of the Irish planning system especially with regards civil design.

  • Experience of design of sustainable urban drainage systems and general building drainage systems. – SUDS Design

  • Engineers’ Ireland membership with an ambition to achieve Chartered Engineers status.

  • Candidate must have ability to communicate effectively and have the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively

  • Planning and control of technical resources to deliver projects on time and to budget

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the relevant Technical Guidance Documents.

  • Ability to work independently, take responsibility for their own work and take the initiative when necessary.

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills and attention to detail.

  • Good verbal and written communicator with fluent English.

  • Have a full clean Irish driving license.

  • Experience in Compilation of Planning & Construction Reports:

- Infrastructure Design Reports

- Drainage Impact assessments

- Construction and Environmental Management plans

- Operational Waste Management Plans

- Flood Risk Assessment - Stage 1
