Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – 4-Day Work Week – 60k to 75k DOE

Your new company
Your new company specialises in providing high-quality Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design services and is committed to being a leading provider of specialised engineering services. Established in 2015, they provide commercially efficient and quality engineering solutions for its clients across residential, commercial, education, health, and industrial sectors.
As they enter an accelerated growth phase across several business sectors, they are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who can confidently lead on projects and manage client expectations. They have recently shifted to a 4-day work week too, to better support their employee’s needs.

Your new role
In your new role as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be leading change and mentoring engineers within their team ensuring high-quality engineering and service for their clients. You will be expected to have a thorough understanding of the theoretical and practical application of their engineering discipline, and a strong understanding of the other disciplines offered by the company while also leading and managing the full Mechanical Design on projects of all sizes.
A selection of your responsibilities include:
  • Lead and manage full Mechanical Design on projects of all sizes always demonstrating Client care.
  • Provide quality control for Mechanical Engineering projects across all offices.
  • Project cost control.
  • Management of both project teams and cross-functional teams within the organisational structure.
  • Travel to client and project locations as required to represent the company for meetings/ surveys/training etc.
  • Liaise and collaborate with other company offices on all matters as appropriate.

What you’ll need to succeed
  • Minimum Degree level in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of Building Services Consultancy Design experience.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office
  • Experience with thermal modelling, energy assessment, and dynamic energy modelling software advantageous.
  • Commercial sector knowledge and BIM experience are a strong advantage.
  • Chartership Desirable.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in the following Mechanical design areas: Water Services, Heating / LTHW, HVAC, Fuel, above-ground drainage and BMS.
  • Deep knowledge of Irish building regulations, particularly TGD part B, F, G, L and the ability to demonstrate this knowledge in design and project lead.
  • Ability to lead projects internally and externally and be responsible for project performance, including satisfied clients, profitable projects, and maintaining the company’s reputation to enable repeat work.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of other building disciplines in the design and installation of buildings.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities while working as part of a team.
  • Commercial Awareness.
