Senior Environmental Scientist role with Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy

Hays has been retained to recruit a Senior Environmental Scientist for our client - A large, well-known Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy.
Your new role
This role primarily involves managing reporting and overseeing scientific environmental projects from a Construction standpoint. Duties include:
- Can organise and manage input to environmental projects including EIARS and nonstatutory reports.
- Has experience in project management, including delivery and client liaison for smaller projects.
- Can work closely with project managers on larger projects to manage timelines and resources.
- Can work collaboratively across teams as well as independently.
- Has strong organisational, technical, numerical and communication skills and can demonstrate logical thinking and concise reporting.
- Can support engineering project managers in the delivery of key infrastructure projects.
- Has a technical specialism in an environmental discipline (air, climate, noise & vibration or other relevant discipline) and can apply this specialism on projects.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree qualified in a relevant science or environmental engineering subject (e.g. environmental science, sustainability, air and climate, noise, geology, hydrogeology etc).
- You must have relevant post-graduate experience within a similar consultancy environment, specifically in assisting with the preparation of EIAR and non-statutory environmental reports etc.
- Chartered Membership of relevant professional body
- Demonstrable and proven experience working on different types of projects (Transport, energy tec)Masters qualified in a relevant specialism preferred, but not essential.
- Good working knowledge and demonstrable understanding of relevant planning and ecological / environmental legislation, and technical guidance and industry standards / best practice, particularly in the preparation of EIAR and non-statutory reports
- Experience in the preparation of high-quality reports to required best practice standards; including various chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR); nonstatutory report as well as EIA screenings.
- Proven track record in technical report writing and ability to complete technical reports to required best practice standards.
- Experience of providing technical support and mentoring as part of a team.
- Experience of project and budget management.
- Experience of the design and co-ordination of environmental surveys.
- Knowledge of managing data using GIS (QGIS, MapInfo or ArcGIS) is desirable.
- Experience in engaging with external stakeholders as necessary.
- A full clean driver's licence.
