Your new role
As a Senior Ecologist, you will lead and manage ecological inputs across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, water, energy, and transport projects throughout Ireland. Working closely with engineers, environmental scientists, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide high quality ecological advice, coordinate field surveys, deliver technical assessments and reports, and support the successful delivery of environmental projects. You will apply your strong organisational, communication, and fieldwork skills to manage ecological workstreams effectively, while contributing specialist expertise in terrestrial and/or freshwater ecology, with experience in habitats, botany, ornithology, mammals, or bat surveys considered advantageous.
What you'll need to succeed
You will hold a degree in Ecology or a related environmental discipline, with membership of a relevant professional body considered advantageous. The successful candidate will have significant postgraduate experience within an environmental consultancy environment, with a proven track record of delivering high quality technical reports, including Appropriate Assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), and biodiversity chapters for Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR). Strong ecological field survey experience is essential, alongside a sound understanding of GIS platforms such as QGIS, MapInfo, or ArcGIS. You will also possess excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, strong attention to detail. Hold a full, clean driving licence.
