Senior Construction Planner - Commercial Projects

Your new company

You will be joining a leading construction contractor renowned for delivering high-quality projects across Ireland and the UK. The company prides itself on innovation, collaboration, and excellence, with a strong commitment to sustainability and safety. Their portfolio includes prestigious commercial and hospitality developments, and they are known for fostering a supportive and professional working environment. They invest heavily in their people, offering structured development programs, mentorship from industry experts, and exposure to prestigious projects. If you’re looking for a company that values ambition and rewards excellence, this is the perfect platform to build a long-term career.

Your new role

As a Construction Planner, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of building projects across Dublin and the wider Leinster region. You will be responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring project programmes from pre‑construction through to handover. Working closely with the project management team, site teams, commercial staff, and external stakeholders, you will provide accurate planning information that drives decision-making and ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. You will prepare tender programmes, update live project schedules, identify potential delays, and propose mitigation strategies. This role offers the opportunity to influence major construction projects while working with a collaborative and forward‑thinking contractor.

What you'll need to succeed

Ideally, the candidate should have a minimum of 10–15 years general construction experience, with a proven track record and progression across commercial, residential, healthcare, pharma, leisure, etc. sectors. Strong experience in preparing tender programmes and supporting EoT (Extension of Time) claims, particularly on Public Works projects, would be a distinct advantage. Pure civils experience is not necessary as it is not an area of the industry where we participate in any significant way. The perfect candidate will have migrated to Planning & Scheduling following a proven career and track record in Engineering / Construction Management and have strong Asta Power Project & MS Project skills. We are happy to offer a competitive remuneration package, together with flexible working conditions for candidates with the right experience, track record and skill set.

  • Proven experience as a Planner within the construction industry, ideally with a main contractor.
  • Strong understanding of general building, including commercial, residential, or mixed‑use project environments.
  • Proficiency in planning software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • A proactive mindset with strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Construction‑related qualification (engineering, construction management, or similar) is highly desirable.

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunity to work with a respected Dublin‑based contractor with a strong pipeline of work.
  • Supportive environment with ongoing professional development and career progression.
  • Exposure to high‑profile projects and modern construction technologies.
  • Hybrid working options for certain phases of project planning.
  • A collaborative culture where your input and ideas are valued.
