Senior Clinical Pharmacist
Role : Senior Clinical Pharmacist
Location: Cork, Dublin or Galway
Onsite presence: 1–2 days per week on-site
35 hour work week
Contract: 11 months + potential to extend
At Hays Specialist Recruitment, we are working closely with an Irish independent authority that regulates and improves health services in Ireland.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to join a Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Directorate, supporting the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC), Ireland's National Immunisation Technical Advisory Group.
This is a senior, evidence-based healthcare role focused on national immunisation policy, guideline development and evidence synthesis. The successful candidate will work alongside NIAC Clinical Leads, Special Advisors and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure Ireland's Immunisation Guidelines remain aligned with the latest scientific evidence and international best practice.
This role is ideally suited to a pharmacist with experience in medicine information, clinical guidelines, hospital pharmacy, public health, evidence review or healthcare policy development.
Key Responsibilities
Immunisation Guideline Development
- Coordinate and co-author updates to the Immunisation Guidelines for Ireland.
- Support NIAC's programme of work by reviewing emerging evidence relating to vaccines and immunisation.
- Assist in the development of evidence-based recommendations for healthcare professionals and policymakers.
Evidence Synthesis and Literature Review
- Conduct systematic literature searches and critical appraisal of scientific evidence.
- Analyse and interpret complex clinical and epidemiological data relating to vaccines and immunisation programmes.
- Produce high-quality evidence summaries and reports to support decision-making.
Immunisation Advice and Query Management
- Support responses to immunisation-related queries from healthcare professionals.
- Research and evaluate available evidence to provide accurate and evidence-based recommendations.
- Liaise with clinical experts where specialist input is required.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with senior healthcare stakeholders, clinical experts, academic partners and government bodies.
- Represent NIAC in meetings and interactions with national and international organisations involved in immunisation policy and programme development.
- Support collaboration across healthcare, academic and public health sectors.
Report Writing and Publications
- Draft reports, guidance documents and consultation papers.
- Present complex scientific information in a clear and accessible format.
- Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and methodological developments.
Essential Requirements
Qualifications: Registered as a Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or eligible for registration
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' post-registration experience in hospital pharmacy, medicine information, clinical guideline development or a related area.
- Strong understanding of clinical pharmacy practice and evidence-based healthcare.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting scientific and clinical literature.
- Experience writing reports, guidance documents or technical publications.
- Knowledge of the Irish healthcare system.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of risk management and information governance principles.
Desirable Experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy, Medicines Information, Public Health, Health Services Research or a related discipline.
- Experience conducting systematic reviews or evidence synthesis.
- Experience supporting guideline development or healthcare policy.
- Experience implementing quality assurance processes.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary projects or teams.
- Academic publication record.
