Your new role
Key Responsibilities
- Manage civil engineering works for water and wastewater projects in line with Irish Water specifications and the Water Services Acts 2007 & 2013. [water.ie], [irishstatutebook.ie]
- Ensure compliance with Irish Water’s design standards, environmental regulations, and health & safety requirements.
- Prepare and review detailed designs, drawings, and technical reports for pipelines, pumping stations, and associated infrastructure.
- Conduct feasibility studies, route selection, and risk assessments for water services projects.
- Oversee site works, ensuring quality control, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
- Coordinate with subcontractors and site teams to maintain programme and budget targets.
- Liaise with Irish Water (Uisce Éireann), local authorities, and clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and mentor team members.
- Prepare tender documents, Bills of Quantities, and administer contracts under Irish Public Works and NEC frameworks.
- Maintain accurate project records, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
What you'll need to succeed
- Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland (or working towards it). [engineersireland.ie]
- Experience
- Minimum 5+ years in civil engineering, with at least 3 years on water/wastewater projects in Ireland.
- Proven track record in design and build projects involving Irish Water compliance. [tobin.ie]
- Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Irish Water Codes of Practice, General Civil Engineering Specifications, and Water Services legislation. [water.ie], [epawebapp.epa.ie]
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and relevant hydraulic modeling software.
- Core Competencies
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and risk effectively.
