Your New Role
As a Water Treatment Operative, you’ll play a key role in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants across a designated region. Reporting to the Water Treatment Team Lead, your responsibilities will include:
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain treatment processes and network assets.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections.
- Take and analyse water/wastewater samples before and after treatment.
- Maintain stocks of materials, chemicals, tools, and critical spares.
- Respond to SCADA/telemetry alerts and system issues.
- Support the Customer Contact Centre with queries and issues.
- Supervise maintenance and repair works, ensuring quality and safety.
- Maintain site cleanliness and upkeep of buildings, fencing, and equipment.
- Participate in out-of-hours and standby work (overtime rates apply).
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and regulations.
- Record site matters including incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
- Update and maintain Safety Files and contribute to safety planning.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Leaving Certificate or equivalent
- Full, clean Class B driving licence
- Experience working independently and in a team
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Understanding of health & safety culture
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Manual Handling Certificate and Safe Pass (preferred)
Desirable
- Certification in Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations
- Water Services Training Group qualification
- Plumbing or Electrical skills/training
- Experience with SCADA or automated control systems
- Class C driving licence
