Resident Engineer – multiple sites based in Mayo

They are currently seeking a Resident Engineer for a bridge construction project in the Galway/Mayo Region. This is a fixed-term, 12‑month contract.

Your new role

As a Resident Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of a bridge construction and rehabilitation project in the Galway/Mayo region.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Site-based supervision, administration, monitoring and inspection of construction activities.
  • Oversight of works associated with masonry, concrete and steel bridge structures.
  • Working as part of a site supervision team while taking responsibility and demonstrating initiative.
  • Ensuring compliance with contract documents, specifications, and health & safety requirements.
  • Supporting project reporting, record keeping, and contractor progress monitoring.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Relevant post graduate experience of fulfilling a Resident Engineer role on projects involving the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of masonry, concrete and steel bridge structures.
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven experience in record keeping and reporting on contractor progress.
  • Full driving licence and valid Safe Pass.
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations and best practices.
