Purchasing Manager - Cork-Based Main Contractor Construction Company

Your new company

A multi‑disciplinary construction group delivering residential and commercial projects across various regions. The organisation specialises in main contracting, design & build, project management, and property development, providing a full end‑to‑end service from site procurement through construction and post‑completion management.

Your new role

The Purchasing Manager oversees all procurement activities required to support construction projects. This role ensures the cost‑effective, timely, and quality‑compliant sourcing of materials, subcontractor services, and construction‑related supplies while aligning with the organisation’s integrated delivery model from design through build and completion.

Procurement & Supply Chain Management
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors for contracting and design‑build projects.
  • Manage procurement from RFQs to contract awards in line with quality, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships while exploring new market options.

Cost Control & Budgeting
  • Work with project teams to procure materials and services within budget.
  • Monitor market pricing, cost trends, and supply risks to support consistent project delivery.

Project Support & Coordination
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and resolve supply issues across multiple construction sites.
  • Work with design and engineering teams to ensure all procured items meet specifications.

Compliance & Sustainability
  • Follow ISO‑aligned systems (9001, 14001, 45001) for procurement and documentation.
  • Promote sustainable purchasing, including use of recycled or reusable materials.

Operational Excellence
  • Improve procurement processes, frameworks, and KPIs to enhance efficiency.
  • Use digital tools (including BIM‑aligned workflows) to streamline procurement and communication.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in procurement or purchasing within construction or a closely related sector.
  • Strong supplier negotiation, contract management, and commercial acumen.
  • Knowledge of construction supply chains, materials, and subcontractor markets.
  • Familiarity with ISO‑aligned procurement processes beneficial.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
