My client is a highly successful, Irish-owned manufacturing business with a strong international footprint across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe. The organisation employs approximately 350 people across multiple manufacturing sites, sales offices, and operates in a fast-paced, innovation-led environment.
With a turnover in excess of €100m and strong profitability, the business is very stable, growing and investing heavily in systems, process improvement and operational excellence. Finance is a core part of the leadership team, and the organisation has a long-established culture of continuous improvement, lean operations and cross-functional collaboration.
This is a rare opportunity to join a stable, well-run business with a strong track record of internal development and long-term career progression.
Your new role
This is a newly created position offering a unique blend of systems, projects and core financial reporting. Reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with the Finance Manager, this role will initially focus on gaining a deep understanding of the business and its month-end processes before transitioning into a highly project-led remit.
Approximately 70% of the role will be systems and project focused, with 30% supporting day-to-day finance and reporting, ensuring strong grounding in the numbers. This weighting of duties will evolve as time goes on.
The role offers full visibility across the organisation, engaging with finance, operations, IT, HR, engineering and senior leadership, and comes with a clearly defined pipeline of systems and transformation projects that will easily span the next few years.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a key finance contact for major digital and systems projects
- Developing and improving reporting, dashboards and data visibility
- Train end users and provide support to finance and no-finance stakeholders
- Supporting month-end close, management accounts and balance sheet controls
- Acting as finance lead on system and process improvement initiatives
- Partnering with IT and ERP specialists to maintain, enhance and optimise the ERP system
- Driving automation across product costing, rebates, pricing and expense reporting
- Supporting consolidation of entities within a tight close timetable
- Enhanced use of reporting and analytics tools
- Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA)
- Typically, 3–5+ years’ post-qualification experience (Top 4 or industry background welcomed)
- Strong grounding in core accounting and month-end processes
- A genuine interest in systems, process improvement and understanding “the why”
- Experience working with ERP systems and finance reporting tools
- Confident communicator, able to engage across technical and non-technical teams
- Curious, open-minded and comfortable working in a business with high levels of autonomy
- Eligible to live and work in the EU
Attitude and potential matter as much as years’ experience — the final level and salary will reflect the individual.
What you'll get in return
This is a one off job in Cork to work across the full business, engage with senior leaders, grow and develop into a well-rounded finance professional.
- Salary range: €55,000 – €70,000 (possible movement depending on experience)
- Holidays, Pension, Life assurance, Gym Subsidy, Employee Assistance Programme
- Hybrid working model after initial period of on-site learning the business
- Flexible start and finish times
- Strong work-life balance (no excessive overtime at month-end)
- Exposure to senior leadership (CFO, COO and CEO are all qualified accountants)
- Clear scope for role expansion and long-term progression as the finance function continues to evolve
