An exciting Payroll Consultant opportunity in Limerick on a 15-month contract

Your new company

Your new company is a well-established global firm with operations in Ireland, offering financial services and support functions across various business areas. The Irish offices contribute to broader regional and international activities. The company offers a hybrid model, with days in the office being Tues/Weds/Thurs.

Your new role

  • Perform daily payroll activities to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll production, including complex and year-end processes.
  • Review payroll adjustment requests for proper authorisation and compliance with policies and legislation; advise on corrective actions and record monthly payroll metrics.
  • Respond to payroll queries across all levels of the organisation, explaining pay details and the impact of policies, tax law, and regulatory changes.
  • Analyse and improve payroll policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with employment tax and payroll-related laws.
  • Collaborate with vendors and review payroll systems/applications to ensure accurate implementation of changes; participate in system testing and payroll-related projects.
  • Prepare and monitor payroll tax and general ledger accounts; reconcile discrepancies and advise Finance on appropriate accounting transactions.
  • Research and monitor legislative changes affecting payroll to ensure compliance.
  • Manage vendor relationships in line with corporate standards.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert, coach, and reviewer for other team members; provide backup support across payroll activities.
  • Represent the payroll department in cross-functional meetings.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Several years of payroll experience, ideally across multiple countries within the EMEA region.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, reconciliation, and general ledger accounting.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement.
  • Understanding of HR and Finance functions and their impact on payroll operations.
