This is a national transport provider offering regional and intercity bus services, as well as school transport across the country. It operates under a larger public transport group and plays a key role in connecting rural and urban communities. The organisation manages a large fleet and workforce, ensuring accessibility and mobility for a wide range of passengers.
Your new role
- Lead the strategic and operational management of the School Transport Office in Cork.
- Oversee route planning, resource allocation, and service delivery in line with Department of Education requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and digital transformation across transport operations.
- Manage and develop local teams, ensuring high performance, accountability, and professional growth.
- Build strong relationships with schools, contractors, and public stakeholders, ensuring service excellence.
- Oversee procurement, contract compliance, and risk management, including safety and audit controls.
- Ensure accurate data management and reporting using systems like Trapeze and Power BI.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams with a focus on performance and development.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including public procurement and contract management.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across internal and external groups.
- In-depth understanding of school transport operations, compliance requirements, and systems (e.g., Trapeze).
- Experience in strategic planning, change management, and implementing technology solutions.
- Familiarity with public sector governance, safeguarding, and audit frameworks.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, with strong data analysis and reporting skills.
