Join an expanding Construction company in a project-based Management Accountant position in Cork.

Your new company

You will be joining a project-led business where finance plays a key role in giving directors, commercial teams and project teams clear visibility on performance, cost, margin, cashflow and risk. This is a hands-on environment where accurate reporting, strong analysis and clear communication are central to decision-making across live projects.

Your new role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of project financial reporting and analysis across a diverse portfolio of projects. Working closely with finance, commercial and operational teams, you will provide meaningful insight into project performance, margins, forecasts and financial risk.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Prepare monthly project reporting packs covering revenue, costs, accruals, committed costs, forecasts, margins and cash position.
  • Analyse project performance against budgets, forecasts and tender assumptions.
  • Investigate and explain financial variances, trends and emerging risks.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers to validate financial data and forecasts.
  • Support monthly CVR and project review processes.
  • Monitor revenue recognition, invoicing, debtors, cash receipts and retentions.
  • Prepare project cashflow forecasts and identify funding or collection risks.
  • Develop reporting templates, dashboards and management reporting tools.
  • Assist with consolidated project reporting, margin analysis and board-level reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project reporting and financial controls.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or ACA).
  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience working in a project-based environment such as construction, engineering, manufacturing or infrastructure would be advantageous.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis skills.
  • Excellent Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Commercially minded with strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • Experience using ERP systems and reporting tools, ideally Business Central.
