Logistics Coordinator for a Civil Engineering company based in South Dublin

Your new company

Our client is a leading Civil Engineering Company based in South Dublin. They are seeking an experienced Logistics Coordinator to join their business on a full-time basis.

Your new role

The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for efficiently, coordinating and managing a fleet of approximately 14 grab lorries working across utility projects in the Dublin area. The role ensures that grab operations are scheduled, tracked, and optimised daily, reducing downtime and maximising fleet efficiency through a centralised booking and tracking system.

1. Daily Coordination & Allocation
• Plan and assign daily routes and tasks to all grab lorries based on project/site needs.
• Liaise with site supervisors, utility crews, and crew leaders to confirm material removal or delivery needs (e.g., muck away, stone deliveries, trench backfill).
• Monitor real-time activity and reallocate resources as needed due to delays or emergency requests.

2. Booking & Scheduling System Development
•Implement and manage a central booking system to allow site teams to reserve grab services.
•Prioritise bookings by urgency, geographic proximity, material type, and programme deadlines.

3. Tracking & Reporting
•Maintain a live tracking system for all grab locations (via GPS, telematics, or driver updates).
•Record daily stats: number of loads, material types removed/delivered, wait times, idle time.
•Generate weekly performance and utilisation reports for senior management.

4. Stakeholder Liaison
•Act as a single point of contact between operations, site teams, and grab drivers.
•Escalate issues such as delays, access restrictions, or repeated inefficiencies.

5. Compliance & Safety
•Ensure all grab lorries and operators are compliant with road regulations, permits, and safety protocols.
•Coordinate with HSEQ team regarding inspections and audits

What you'll need to succeed

Essential
•Previous experience in logistics, fleet management, or site coordination (ideally in utilities or civils).
•Proficient in Excel, Google Sheets, or fleet management software.
•Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
•Able to multitask in a high-pressure environment.

Desirable
•Experience working with telematics/GPS software (e.g., Verizon Connect, Fleetmatics, Trackmatic).
•Background in utilities, reinstatement, or civils logistics coordination.
•Familiarity with Road Opening Licences (ROLs) and Dublin City Council Roadworks Control.

What you'll get in return

Excellent salary and employee benefits. Great team culture, additional annual leave and career progression opportunities.
