Junior IT Support Engineer | Grow your Career | Perm | On-site in D1 | €35k max

Role Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior IT Support Technician to join an IT team of a business I have personally placed into. This role is ideal for someone starting their career in IT who is eager to learn and develop hands-on experience supporting users across multiple departments.

Reporting to the IT Manager, you will assist in delivering technical support and contribute to the implementation of new IT services and solutions.


Who You Are

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • A 3rd Level Qualification in Information Technology (NFQ Level 6 or equivalent), or currently working towards one
  • Up to 1 year of relevant experience (including internships, placements, or academic projects)
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft technologies such as: Active Directory, Group Policy or DNS/DHCP
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and general Office applications
  • An interest in networking technologies (switches, routers, firewalls)
  • Basic knowledge of hardware (PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities
  • A flexible and positive attitude

Desirable (but not essential):
  • Certification such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Fundamentals
  • Exposure to VPN, WAN, VOIP, or PBX technologies

What the Role Includes

  • Provide 1st line IT support to end users via phone, email, and desk-side support
  • Assist in troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues
  • Support the setup of new users (accounts, devices, access permissions)
  • Help install and configure IT equipment and software
  • Maintain IT support systems and documentation
  • Assist senior team members with projects and system upgrades
  • Support the desktop environment (Windows 10/11, mobile devices, printers)
  • Participate in user training and provide guidance on IT systems
  • Escalate more complex issues to senior IT staff when needed
  • Ensure professionalism and confidentiality in all IT-related matters
  • Continuously learn and stay up to date with emerging technologies
