Audio-Visual Support Technician - Contract
Job Title: Audio-Visual Support Technician (6-Month initial Contract) – has possible extension
Location: Cork
Contract: 6 months (until end of April, with potential extension)Salary: €33,000 – €35,000 per annum (including holidays) & no additional benefits

About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on, technically minded Audio-Visual Support Technician to join a busy and dynamic environment providing onsite support across multiple teaching and meeting rooms.
This role involves maintaining and supporting a wide range of AVs and IT equipment, ensuring sessions and events run smoothly with minimal disruption. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working directly with end users, and being part of a collaborative technical support team.
Key Responsiblities
- Provide on-site AV support for approximately 20–30 rooms equipped with visual displays, audio systems, and presentation technology.
- Respond quickly to support calls and resolve most issues within an hour — approximately 80% of cases are user-related and can be fixed on the spot.
- Diagnose, repair, and swap equipment such as screens, microphones, projectors, and other hardware components.
- Deploy new devices and assist with basic installations or plug-and-play setups.
- Carry out routine checks to ensure all devices are charged, connected, and ready before sessions begin.
- Work closely with a small technical team to plan and coordinate replacements and upgrades.
- Support conferences and events when required, ensuring all AV systems function smoothly.
- Escalate more complex issues to senior technicians when necessary.
- Participate in weekly planning meetings to prioritise maintenance and equipment replacements.
- Undertake some manual handling (training provided).
Requirements for the role
- Background or interest in IT, AV, or technical support – suitable for interns, graduates, or early-career professionals.
- Confident with basic tools and cabling (comfortable using a screwdriver, connecting AV/IT cables, etc.).
- Good problem-solving skills with a calm, customer-focused approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Full driving licence desirable – access to a company van may be provided to transport equipment between sites.
- Proactive and organised, with the ability to anticipate potential issues and prepare accordingly.
- Must be available during core class or event hours and flexible to support during conferences.
Additional Information
- The role is based primarily in Cork city.
- Limited to no parking available on site; public transport or park-and-ride options recommended.
- The contract runs until the end of April, with the possibility of extension depending on demand for support during the summer period.
- Manual handling and equipment training will be provided.
- Interviews are expected to take place in early November.
