Insurance Technical Lead - 12 Month Contract

A leading national utility provider is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Insurance Placement Lead to join its Insurance team. This is a key role responsible for supporting the development and delivery of insurance solutions across the organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Insurance Placement Manager and internal stakeholders to manage insurance programmes, broker relationships, and risk management initiatives.
Your new role
- Support the Insurance Placement Manager in delivering effective insurance solutions.
- Lead the delivery of assigned insurance projects aligned with placement objectives.
- Collaborate on broker procurement and renewal processes in line with procurement law.
- Engage with internal teams to gather underwriting data and prepare the annual Renewal Information Document.
- Manage the Motor Fleet insurance relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted advisor on insurance matters, escalating issues as appropriate.
- Negotiate with brokers and insurers, ensuring alignment with governance protocols.
- Represent the organisation at broker/underwriter meetings, insurance events, and risk surveys.
- Review and advise on insurance clauses in contracts, agreements, and wayleaves.
- Prepare documentation for sign-off and ensure compliance with internal procedures.
- Deliver quarterly insurance performance reports, including claims analysis and renewal planning.
- Lead external risk/site surveys and maintain insurance documentation databases.
- Identify opportunities for system-driven business intelligence reporting.
What you'll need to succeed
- Relevant third-level qualification and/or professional insurance accreditation.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in broking, in-house insurance, underwriting, or similar roles.
- Strong understanding of general insurance classes and large insurance programmes.
- Proven ability to manage insurance-related business risks and provide strategic advice.
- Excellent relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong knowledge of insurance contract wording and governance.
- Experience in people management, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels and delivering clear, actionable insights.
