Hydro Team Member – Mechanical Fitter

Your new role

As a Hydro Team Member – Mechanical Fitter, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and operating hydroelectric generation assets across Inniscarra and Carrigadrohid stations. You’ll work across multiple functional areas, including maintenance, operations control, technical services, civil works, and contractor supervision. This hands-on role requires autonomy, flexibility, and a proactive approach to supporting station operations and projects.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Maintenance and operations across all station areas
  • Use of lifting and slinging equipment
  • Leading and managing maintenance teams
  • Accurate record-keeping using CMMS+
  • Project delivery from planning to close-out
  • Procedure writing and implementation
  • Performing authorised roles under safety rules

What you'll need to succeed

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • FAS/SOLAS/Senior Trade qualification in mechanical disciplines (e.g. turning, milling, welding) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ hands-on mechanical fitting experience in heavy engineering (Hydro, Thermal, or Renewable)
  • Full B driving licence
Desirable:

  • HSE training or certification
  • Experience with lifting/slinging equipment and manual handling
  • Familiarity with Maintenance, Environmental, and Safety Management systems
  • Civil works or technical services experience
  • Contractor or staff supervision experience
