A Health & Safety Officer and a Manager are required within the construction industry for roles in the west.

Your new company

Our client is a large construction company with projects across Galway, Clare and Mayo. They are now seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Officer and also an H&S Manager for the company which is based in the west. You will need relevant experience on multi-million-euro construction projects in Ireland. They have an immediate requirement, and a generous salary and transport will be provided for the successful applicants. Roles available in Clare and Mayo.

As Health & Safety officer, you will ideally have 3 years or more experience working on projects in Ireland.
As Health & Safety Manager, you will report to senior management and will oversee the H&S responsibilities for the company. In order to succeed, you will have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in middle or senior management roles reporting to senior management and Directors with a Main Building Contractor.

Duties of the role:
  • To maintain a close working relationship with the various teams within the company, to provide active assistance and advise on ensuring the effective implementation of the Safety Management System.
  • To ensure risk assessment processes and systems are established
  • To ensure risks to third parties / other contractors are understood and actioned.
  • To contribute ideas to the team for the continued development of the company-wide Safety Management System.
  • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all health and safety matters relevant to the work and liaise with appropriate safety managers, safety organisations and trade associations.
  • To ensure that accident and incident investigation is properly carried out to identify both immediate and underlying causes, actions to prevent recurrence and a robust defence of claims.
  • To provide reports on health & safety performance to the relevant managers.
  • Promote Group health and safety abilities to staff and customers.
Qualifications:
  • Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • 3+ years construction experience.
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety regulations and practices.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Full Clean Driving licence
