Your new company :

As Head of Stakeholder & Strategic Technical Communications, you will join a leading Irish semi-state utility company who are responsible for the delivery and maintenance of utilities across Ireland. You will have full responsibility for all Strategic Stakeholder Communications including Public Affairs, to ensure we have a focus on effective partnerships and are seen as a trusted advisor to all key water-related strategic stakeholders. Your new office is located in Dublin and will join their team on a permanent basis.

Your new role :

As Head of Stakeholder & Strategic Technical Communications , you will be responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of a Stakeholder and Public Affairs Strategy for the client . The individual is responsible for creating a clear stakeholder map for all the clients’ stakeholders, developing relationships with all critical stakeholders and groups, and creating a comprehensive framework to support these relationships. They are also accountable for developing effective communications strategies and plans for all identified asset management and infrastructure delivery projects, as well as the overall strategic approach to communications, statutory consents, and related stakeholder engagement for strategic infrastructure (SID) projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing effective communications strategies and plans to support the successful delivery of strategic projects. You will provide interpretation, advice, and input to ensure consistency of approach and effective delivery of communications across communications and corporate affairs and the wider business. You will also be accountable for oversight of stakeholder partnerships/national representatives in support of the delivery of successful public affairs engagements, such as political representatives, industry, regulatory bodies, consultative groups, and partners. Finally, you will be responsible for developing and content for a prioritised program of key events and presentations to ensure the client achieves its corporate strategy and business outcomes. They develop critical relationships with national representatives to ensure strategies and objectives are clearly understood, communicated, and prioritised.

What you'll need to succeed :

The ideal candidate for this position should have experience with integrated communications, working with stakeholder, public affairs, corporate, strategic, and technical communications to build the client's reputation. You will have experience creating and leading the implementation of a communications strategy with excellent clear and concise writing skills for a range of audiences and in a variety of formats. A relevant third level qualification and/or accreditation is desirable, along with a minimum of 10 plus years’ experience in the water, utilities or similar industries, and 5+ years working at a senior manager level. The candidate should have excellent leadership and people skills, and a demonstrable ability to attract and develop a high-performing committed team. They should have significant leadership, change & transformation experience, ideally in a similar utility, regulated industry or multi-stakeholder environment. The candidate should be able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions and ambiguity, generating effective and pragmatic solutions to new situations and problems as they are presented. They should be able to quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships and influence effectively at all levels, both internally and externally. The candidate should have a proven track record of working in a commercially focused environment and working collaboratively across multiple functions and business areas. They should be an excellent communicator with the capability to handle complex and difficult situations with thought and confidence. The candidate should have a proven track record of successful delivery against business objectives within a complex and large organisational context and have demonstrated an ability to align resources across these environments. They should have strong negotiation skills with a win/win mindset and be financially and commercially astute. Finally, the candidate should have experience of implementing policies, systems, and controls and overseeing the implementation of progressive policies.
