Your new role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will become part of a high-performing finance team and take responsibility for delivering accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and valuable commercial insights. This role offers broad exposure across financial accounting, cash flow management, forecasting, reporting and finance transformation initiatives, making it an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accountant looking to further develop their career within a fast-paced project-led environment. You will join a close-knit finance team comprising a Finance Director, Financial Controller and two Financial Accountants.
- Lead the month-end close process and prepare timely, accurate management accounts.
- Prepare and review journals, accruals, prepayments and month-end adjustments.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and ensure general ledger integrity.
- Produce cash flow forecasts and working capital analysis to support decision-making.
- Support monthly financial reporting requirements for management and key stakeholders.
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Manage VAT returns and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Oversee bank and cash reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
- Partner with operational teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting.
- Support supplier and subcontractor cost reporting and financial controls.
- Drive improvements in finance systems, reporting tools and business processes.
- Assist with year-end audits and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and project support as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA) with 3–5 years' post-qualification experience in a financial or management accounting role.
- Experience within construction, contracting, property development or another project-based environment is highly desirable.
- Strong financial systems and IT capability.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and process optimisation.
