An estimator with 4 years or more experience is required in Galway to work on exciting construction projects.

Your new company

A well-established main building contractor is now seeking to recruit an experienced Estimator to join their team in Galway. You will get to work on a varied list of construction projects across a number of industries within both the public and private sector. There are excellent opportunities to develop your career.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor elements.
  • Prepare and present tender submissions within required deadlines.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities within the project scope.
  • Obtain and analyse quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Liaise with the Commercial Manager, Contracts Manager, and Project Teams to ensure cost information is consistent and accurate.
  • Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings with clients, consultants, and design teams as required.
  • Provide input into value engineering solutions and alternative methods of construction.
  • Prepare detailed handover documentation for the project team once a tender is secured.
  • Assist the project team during early project stages with cost advice and procurement strategy.
Education and Skills Required:
  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Estimator in the construction industry (commercial project experience desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building regulations in Ireland.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Buildsoft, Cubit, Causeway) and Microsoft Excel and COINS.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work effectively in a team environment.
