Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

Role: Electrical & Instrumentation Technician
Location: Inniscarra & Carrigadrohid, Cork
Permanent Position – Onsite
Salary: €45,000 per annum & Excellent benefits

At Hays Recruitment, we have a fantastic opportunity with Ireland's biggest electricity supplier who are seeking an Electrical Instrumentation & Control Technician at the Iniscarra & Carrigadrohid, Lee Valley Power Stations.
Both stations use Voith turbines with Brown Boveri generators, which operate under an average head of 30m.

  • Carrigadrohid has one generating unit (Voith turbine/Siemens generator) with a capacity of 8 MW, operating under an average head of 13m.
  • Lee stations are a high efficiency producer of renewable energy and are part of the organisation's goal to reach Net Zero by 2040.
You will be required to work across all functional areas including maintenance, operations, technical services, facilities, civil and dam safety, supervision, and contractor management.

Key Responsibilities
Duties of the role include but may not be limited to:
  • All aspects of electrical and instrumentation work in an industrial work environment.
  • Delivery of work across all areas of the station, including maintenance, operations control room, civil, technical and support functions
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS+
  • Writing and implementing procedures and working instructions.
  • Supervising and directing contractors.
  • Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality management responsibilities.

Experience and Qualifications
Essential
  • 2+ years’ experience in Electrical / Control & Instrumentation Maintenance.
  • FAS / SOLAS / Senior Trade qualification in Electrical & Instrumentation or equivalent work experience.
  • Full Category B driving licence.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of HV/MV/LV electrical systems and C&I systems.

Desirable
  • An understanding of mechanical, heavy rotational and pressure systems is desirable.
  • Experience in liaising with relevant statutory bodies and contractors.
  • Experience in project management and good planning skills.
