Role: Electrical & Instrumentation Technician
Location: Aghada, Cork
Permanent Position – Onsite
Salary: €45,000 per annum – Excellent benefits
At Hays Recruitment we have a fantastic opportunity with Ireland's biggest electricity supplier, who are seeking an Electrical Instrumentation & Control Technician at the Aghada Power Station.
The Aghada Power Station in Cork consists of a 450 MW Alstom single shaft combined cycle gas turbine and 3 x 90 MW Alstom dual fuel open cycle gas turbines.
You will be an integral part of the maintenance team with responsibility for the safe, reliable and efficient maintenance and troubleshooting of the generating plant and equipment to help ensure that Aghada operates to strict efficiency, availability, environmental and commercial standards.
You will get to work with a wide variety of power, control, and measurement equipment, from pneumatic, electronic, PLC and DCS systems right up to and including LV & MV electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform planned and reactive maintenance activities in accordance with site policies and procedures
• Installation, troubleshooting, repair and commissioning of plant equipment and assets
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS
• Writing and implementing procedures and working instructions
• Preparation and review of task-specific Method statements and Risk Assessments
• Be a mentor for Electrical & Instrumentation Apprentices, as well as liaising with and supervising vendors and contractors
• Carry out authorised roles under the safety rules as required (Safe Systems of Work)
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
• An Electrical Instrumentation craft qualification or equivalent
• Detailed knowledge of Instrumentation, Electrical and Control systems in an industrial environment
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and P&IDs
• Full Category B driving licence
• Experience with instrumentation calibration and electrical test equipment
Desirable
• 2+ years Thermal, Hydro, or renewable generation plant maintenance experience or equivalent
• Experience in equipment commissioning activities
• Experience and Certification in the use of MEWP
• Knowledge of LOTO and permitting systems
• Experience in Maintenance, Environmental and Safety Management systems
• Plant technical services experience or equivalent
• Staff and / or Contractor supervision experience or equivalent
