Hays Recruitment is working with a leading electrical contracting company in Cork to recruit an experienced Electrical Engineer. This role offers the chance to contribute to large-scale projects across industrial, pharmaceutical, and commercial sectors, ensuring technical excellence and compliance from design through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to the project team and site supervisors, ensuring they work from the latest drawings
  • Review and respond to technical queries concerning specifications, drawings, materials, and equipment, ensuring timely closeout.
  • Develop and monitor cable schedules (MV, LV, Control, ELV, EMS, BMS, ICT, Fibre, Security, Fire Alarm, Fire Suppression) with no omissions.
  • Prepare and manage electrical document control, keeping all logs updated in both hard and soft copy.
  • Create and develop handover packs and test packs for Electrical and Instrumentation systems, defining system boundaries
  • Manage systems turnover packs with the client’s commissioning teams and participate in QA/QC walk-downs.
  • Develop a designer’s systems functional description documentation from design intent to final implementation
  • Prepare technical submittals in line with specifications and ensure compliance with regulations and design codes
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a commissioning strategy, working as an integral part of the commissioning process and signing off parameters.
  • Generate all required sign-off documentation and ensure the Quality Plan remains relevant, modifying it as necessary.
  • Carry out lighting calculations, design reviews, and LV cable sizing
  • Prepare O&M documentation for all systems
Requirements
  • Relevant third-level qualification or proven track record delivering large-scale projects in challenging environments
  • Trade background preferred but not essential
  • Strong contracting experience and ability to administer construction work in line with contract requirements
  • A proactive self-starter who promotes a positive work culture with a team focus.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-functional teams and departments
  • Excellent IT skills and strong communication abilities
