Director of Building Services – Multi-disciplinary Consultancy

Your new company has been in operation for 40 years and specialises in providing high-quality Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) design, BIM, Energy & Sustainability, and Architectural services. Their success comes off the back of combining global expertise with local knowledge to deliver innovative, sustainable and cost-efficient solutions. With offices across Ireland and the UK, their multidisciplinary team partners with clients across a diverse range of sectors to shape smarter, more resilient buildings and infrastructure.
As they enter an accelerated growth phase across several business sectors, they are recruiting to appoint a Head of MEP / Director of Building Services to take ownership of our MEP function across both Data Centres (DC) and Non-DC (schools, commercial, remediation) projects.
Role Overview
- Dublin-based (hybrid – regular office presence required)
- Leading MEP across all divisions (DC and Non-DC)
- Managing senior engineers, associate directors, and project teams
- Responsible for delivery standards, coordination, and performance
- Working closely with the CEO/COO on structure, hiring, and growth
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear leadership across the MEP function
- Own project delivery quality and coordination
- Manage and structure teams across DC and Non-DC
- Introduce governance, standards, and QA processes
- Support client engagement at senior level (Microsoft, Amazon, etc.)
- Drive commercial awareness across projects (scope control, margin protection)
- Build and develop the next layer of leadership within the team
Candidate Profile
- 15+ years’ experience in building services / MEP consultancy
- Currently operating at Technical Director / Associate Director / Head of Department level
- Proven experience leading teams, not just projects
- Strong background in complex projects (data centres, commercial, large-scale developments)
- Comfortable managing both technical delivery and people
- Experience dealing with Tier 1 clients is a strong advantage.
Key Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Demonstrated team leadership and organisational experience
- Strong communication and client-facing ability
- Experience in multidisciplinary coordination
- Must be able to operate at a strategic level, not just design
Desirable
- Data centre project experience (not essential but beneficial)
- Exposure to international projects
- Experience building or restructuring teams
Salary Range
- €120k – €140k base (depending on experience)
- Pension + performance-related bonus
