Senior Construction Health and Safety Manager - Main Contractor Based in Cork

You’ll be joining a construction and development organisation delivering large‑scale residential and commercial projects across multiple locations. They oversee a portfolio of active building sites and maintain a strong commitment to compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
Your new role
As Senior Health & Safety Manager, you will take full responsibility for leading and managing health, safety, and environmental performance across five active construction sites. You will oversee all H&S procedures, audits, training, and compliance activities while working closely with project managers, site teams, and senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of H&S policies, procedures, and site‑specific safety plans across all active projects.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with statutory legislation, best‑practice standards, and internal systems.
Provide guidance and mentorship to site management teams, safety officers, and subcontractors to promote a proactive safety culture.
Oversee incident reporting, investigation, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
Manage external compliance requirements including ISO‑aligned safety systems, environmental controls, and certification frameworks.
Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, inductions, and competency programmes for site personnel.
Liaise with regulatory bodies, consultants, and auditors, ensuring accurate documentation and continuous readiness for compliance reviews.
Monitor safety performance, analyse trends, and report key metrics to senior leadership, contributing to strategic safety planning.
Support the integration of sustainable construction practices, waste‑reduction initiatives, and environmental stewardship across all sites.
Coordinate safety strategy for multi‑site operations, ensuring consistent standards, strong communication, and seamless implementation.
What you'll need to succeed
Significant experience as a Health & Safety Manager in the construction industry, ideally overseeing multiple sites or large‑scale developments.
Strong knowledge of Irish construction H&S legislation, regulations, and industry best practice.
Relevant qualifications in Health & Safety (NEBOSH, Level 8 H&S degree, or equivalent).
Proven ability to lead, influence, and support site teams across a multi‑site operation.
Strong organisational, communication, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Experience with ISO‑aligned systems (9001/14001/45001) and audit processes is desirable.
A proactive, solutions‑driven approach with the confidence to make decisions and drive cultural improvement.
