Commercial Underwriter – €65K | Strategic Credit Role in Automotive Finance

Your new company

Join a leading provider of innovative finance solutions in the Irish automotive sector. With a strong dealer network and a reputation for excellence, this organisation supports thousands of customers nationwide through tailored retail, leasing, and wholesale funding products. Known for its collaborative culture and forward-thinking approach, the company is expanding its credit team with a newly created role that offers both autonomy and impact.

Your new role

As a Commercial Underwriter, you’ll be responsible for managing and underwriting credit lines across retail, leasing, and wholesale portfolios. Reporting to the Head of Credit, you’ll oversee funding lines exceeding €1 million, conduct annual reviews, and build strong relationships with customers and dealers. You’ll work alongside two experienced underwriters and act as a successor to a senior team member, contributing to the strategic direction of the credit function.
This role involves in-person customer meetings, reviewing European credit guidelines, and ensuring compliance with internal and external policies. You’ll be trusted to work independently, make lending decisions, and represent the credit team in high-value discussions.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in corporate credit underwriting, ideally within motor finance or a related financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of SME lending, stocking facilities, and wholesale credit lines.
  • Proven ability to build and manage customer relationships, with confidence in conducting solo in-person meetings.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Familiarity with European credit guidelines and ability to review and implement them effectively.
  • FCCC qualification and compliance with Minimum Competency Requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams and contribute to credit-related projects.

What you'll get in return

  • A competitive salary of €65,000, aligned with experience and qualifications.
  • Hybrid working model: 2 days in the office
  • Opportunity to work in a newly created role with strategic importance and visibility.
  • Exposure to high-value credit lines and direct involvement in lending decisions.
  • A supportive team environment with no direct people management responsibilities.
  • Career development within a dynamic and growing financial services organisation.
