A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director – Mechanical Engineering to join its growing team. This is a senior leadership opportunity within a highly regarded organisation known for delivering innovative, sustainable building services solutions across Ireland, the UK, and international markets.
Your new role
You will take a strategic leadership position, overseeing the delivery of high-quality mechanical design across multiple projects while managing and developing a high-performing team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading mechanical design delivery from feasibility through to construction across a diverse project portfolio
- Acting as Project Leader, ensuring delivery aligns with client briefs, budgets, and programme timelines
- Maintaining technical excellence and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations
- Managing project profitability and commercial performance
- Mentoring and developing engineers at all levels
- Overseeing team resourcing and workload planning
- Collaborating with BIM teams on coordinated M&E design delivery
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships as a senior point of contact
- Supporting business development, bids, and strategic growth initiatives
- Working closely with senior leadership on project delivery and operational strategy
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s desirable)
- 6+ years’ experience in Building Services Consultancy design
- 3+ years’ experience in team leadership or management
- Strong technical expertise across HVAC, LTHW, water services, drainage, BMS, and fuel systems
- Proven experience delivering projects through the full design lifecycle
- Strong commercial awareness and project management capability
- Knowledge of Irish and UK building regulations
- Experience with BIM and energy modelling tools is advantageous
- Chartered status (or working towards) highly desirable
