Accounts Assistant – 8 Week Contract - Dublin North – Up To €60,000

Your new company

A well‑established public‑sector organisation based in North Dublin is seeking an Accounting Technician / Assistant Accountant to join their finance team on a full‑time temporary 8-week contract. This role is fully on-site and would suit someone with strong hands‑on accounting experience who can contribute immediately within a structured environment.

Your new role

In this role, you will support the finance team with day‑to‑day accounting and financial administration. Responsibilities will include processing purchase requisitions and purchase orders, managing supplier invoices, coordinating approvals, and preparing payment runs. You will also assist with bank reconciliations, supplier statement reconciliations, and support with statutory and financial reporting as required.
Reporting to senior finance colleagues, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure accurate records are maintained and deadlines are met. This is a practical, delivery‑focused role within a busy accounting team.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have prior experience working in an accounts or finance support role, ideally in a fast‑paced or structured environment. Strong exposure to accounts payable processes, reconciliations, and payment runs will be important.
Experience using accounting systems such as Sage (or similar) and a good working knowledge of Excel are required. You’ll be organised, detail‑focused, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. An Accounting Technician qualification or equivalent experience is advantageous, but not essential where strong practical experience is demonstrated.

What you'll get in return

You’ll gain the opportunity to work within a reputable public‑sector organisation and contribute to a well‑established finance function. This role offers competitive remuneration based on experience and provides valuable short‑term exposure to public‑sector accounting processes within a supportive team environment.
