Your new role
As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will report directly to the Accounts Payable Supervisor and play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely execution of supplier payments. You’ll contribute to maintaining a best-in-class Accounts Payable function, supporting financial controls, purchasing procedures, and risk management.
- Evaluate and onboard key suppliers
- Support the implementation and automation of the PO system
- Ensure appropriate controls and approvals are in place before costs are incurred
- Liaise with suppliers and reconcile statements
- Assist with the monthly close process
- Review company credit card expenditure
- Present payment listings for approval
- Collaborate with internal teams including Procurement, Property, and Construction
- Liaise with the Tax function on VAT, RCT, and PSWT matters
- Promote financial discipline across the organisation
- Support internal and external audits
- Assist with budget data preparation
- Perform ad-hoc administrative duties as required
What you'll need to succeed
- A strong background in Accounts Payable with at least 3 years’ experience, ideally in a large organisation
- High attention to detail and adherence to established processes
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
- Experience with accounting systems such as Sage, Oracle, or SAP
- A relevant business or accounting qualification
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills and a results-oriented mindset
- Industry experience in construction, property development, or capital investment projects
- Experience in a medium-sized finance team
- Familiarity with Sage 200c
- Exposure to the semi-state sector is a plus
