Financial Accountant job - Nationwide Retailer - Galway City

Your new company

Your new company is one of the fastest growing indigenous retailers in Ireland and one of the modern business success stories to come out of the West of Ireland over the last 10 years. Since Covid, this retailer has grown exponentially from their Galway base through the opening of multiple megastores across the island. Owing to this continued growth, they now have a need for additional staff within their finance function. This is a tremendous opportunity for a newly/recently qualified accountant to join an ambitious brand and gain exposure in a busy finance function while gaining mentorship from highly-experienced team members.

Your new role

You will join as Financial Accountant within a busy finance function. You will sit alongside the Senior Accountant and report directly to the Head of Finance. You will gain exposure to and be responsible for month-end management accounts production, co-ordinating AP/AR, maintain creditors and debtors ledgers, co-ordinating the external audit process and assisting senior members of staff with more complex commercially-focused duties such as cashflows, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, margin analysis and cost/benefit analysis. .

What you'll need to succeed

You will be a fully qualified accountant holding a recognised accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA). You may be experienced or newly/recently qualified also. An appetite for learning is required in this role as it is a very fast paced environment within a high growth company where change is a constant feature. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, is essential for this role as is an ability to work well within a team. An ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and business acumen is also advantageous as the role is not solely a 'sit behind the desk' position but very much a hands-on job.
