Assistant Environmental Manager - Semi-state body

Your New Company
Your new company is a semi-state body that operates nationally and is responsible for some of Ireland’s key transport infrastructure. They have offices nationwide and are currently going through a sustained period of growth.
The Chief Civil Engineer (CCE) is seeking to recruit a CCE Assistant Environmental manager to provide specialist support in relation to legal compliance, environmental management, biodiversity goals and improvements in resource management.

Your New Role & Purpose
Your new role as an Assistant Environmental Manager in their Environmental Department is to support the CCE, Infrastructure Managers, Regional Managers and Building & Facilities to ensure maintenance activities are progressed in an expeditious manner, so that the track and building assets are maintained to ensure safe operating conditions for train services and passenger movement, whilst also balancing the protection the natural environment within Iarnród Éireann lands.
The below is not an exhaustive list of duties, but includes:
  • Provide leadership assistance and contribute to the efficient functioning of the CCE Environmental Department functions.
  • Deputise for the CCE Environment & Sustainability Manager as required and manage department resources and work activities.
  • Manage the CCE Environmental Management System to retain ISO14001 certification.
  • Maintain environmental records and statistics in relation to environmental conditions along the railway network.
  • Support various CCE business units in the development of environmental controls for maintenance works.
  • Implement environmental and biodiversity improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with relevant regulatory bodies and external stakeholders in relation to railway activities and infrastructural improvements.
  • Ensure awareness and compliance with all applicable environmental and planning legislation.
  • Organise environmental training programmes to improve environmental awareness across CCE staff.
  • Ensure all works are planned safely in accordance with CCE safety management system and applicable CCE operating procedures.

What You'll Need to Succeed
Essential:
  • Level 8 degree (minimum) in environment-related discipline.
  • 10 years' post-graduate work experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of Irish and EU environmental and planning legislation.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems

Desirable:
  • Experience and/or knowledge of environmental aspects and impacts within a railway/transport environment.
  • Affiliation with a relevant professional body.
  • Full clean driving licence.

You will mainly be based out of Inchicore, Dublin 8.
You will be remunerated on a strong salary. This salary is budgeted up to €84,000 per annum and this is solely based on your experience.
