Educated to Honours Degree level in the field of Quantity Surveying, with close to 5 years professional experience working as part of a team within the construction industry, this candidate is experienced in using a range of cost management and estimating techniques to appraise, evaluate and achieve goals across a diverse variety of the industry.
Having dealt with a wide range of people including earthquake effected homeowners, site staff, contractors, senior management in both the insurance and construction sectors and external bodies such as local planning authorities, legal advocates, consultants, architects and developers, both written and verbal communication skills are excellent, providing a strong capacity to work professionally and efficiently at all levels.
Duties involved included conducting preliminary investigations to over cap claims in order to evaluate the extent of damage to a given property, and assisting in the appointment of suitable contractors to carry out remedial works. This candidate also has experience in conducting repair vs rebuild reports which are based on appointed contractors estimates and engineers findings to identify the most cost effective solution for remediation while accounting for different variables such as site topography, flood plain remediation, site access and unforeseen works.
In addition to the above, day to day duties included assessing contractor quotations for residential repairs to ensure that they are fair and reasonable and conform to set budgets, assessing, evaluating and approving variations to scope of works, and working and meeting with contractors, contract supervisors, and EQC loss adjusters to resolve different viewpoints regarding quotes and variations.
