M&E Quantity Surveyor - Hourly Rate - Dublin-based office
Your new company
Your new company is a leading organisation in Turnkey Data Centre Solutions. They are a dedicated Data Centre delivery partner providing turnkey solutions to their clients. They are headquartered in Dublin and deliver across Ireland and throughout Europe, providing services from design, through to construction across the full range of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical services as well as commissioning.
Your new role
As a Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all costs and value for the project (or project elements) for which they are responsible. Key to success in these roles will be the ability to work with team members to procure subcontract packages and other critical elements of the work.
Your responsibilities as an M&E Quantity Surveyor include:
- Skilled at budgeting, reporting, profit plans.
- Good communication skills. Undertake and manage interim commercial meetings with the Client and Internal Project Team. Report in detail as required by the Project Manager on the commercial status of the project.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, interim valuations and final accounts. Ensure payment certificates are processed and payments are made per the agreed subcontract and procurement terms. Retentions apply as per agreements.
- The Mechanical & Electrical Quantity Surveyor will have the ability to administer the contract obligations and meet additional client requirements. Issue interim and final accounts and progress applications per project and contract requirements. Monthly applications are all-inclusive of accurate remeasures, site changes, daywork and any applicable contract claims. Identify escalations, material or labour, as appropriate.
- The ability to identify potential commercial risks and ensure prompt reporting of the same to Senior Management. Follow the direction of Senior Management in undertaking work duties.
- Have a practical understanding of scheduling and the associated commercial implications. Ensure close collaboration with the Planning Engineer regarding the accuracy of progress reporting.
- Capable of costing and agreeing daily work changes, which include managing the subcontractor remeasurement of contract works, site dayworks and site change orders.
- Maintain accurate records and provide the necessary detailed backup to support commercial tracking and costing.
- The ability to work on your own initiative and can prioritise without direction.
- Speed and accuracy of information are a priority.
- Negotiate, as necessary, with clients or their representatives.
- Set an example of enthusiasm, loyalty and hard work in the performance of all duties.
What you need to succeed
- 3rd level Qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/ Building Services Engineering or Quantity Surveying
- A minimum of 3 years of Quantity surveying / Mechanical & Electrical Engineering experience is essential.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Detailed knowledge of commercial management and Quantity Surveyor role within construction.
- Knowledge of contract conditions and their applications.
- Overall understanding of the business, client and subcontractor relations, and M&E installation.
- A positive “can-do” approach, determined to succeed, generates a sense of energy and urgency.
- Builds and maintains excellent working relationships.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
You will be paid at a competitive hourly rate between €30 to €40 per hour. These are typically paid for 40 hours per week, and you will be paid for any overtime hours worked. This comes out to approximately 60k to 80k when converted to an annual salary.
This is open to PAYE and self-employed workers. It's a great time to join their expanding organisation as you will have great exposure to multi-million-euro projects and grow within to progress to more senior roles.
