At Hays Specialist Recruitment, we are partnering with a leading global biopharmaceutical organisation to recruit a Project Manager to support capital project delivery at their state-of-the-art biologics manufacturing site in north Dublin.
This role sits within a high-performing project team and will focus on the delivery of GMP laboratory systems and QC infrastructure projects and supporting the ongoing expansion and optimisation of site capabilities.
Your New Role
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of GMP lab systems projects, covering the full life cycle from concept and business case development through to execution, qualification, and project closeout.
Projects will primarily support QC laboratory operations, including equipment, analytical technologies, lab systems, and associated facility or utility modification within a regulated GMP environment.
You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Validation, Engineering, and IT/AIT, ensuring that all projects are delivered safely, compliantly, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage GMP lab systems projects across the full lifecycle (initiation → closeout)
- Develop project scope, cost estimates, schedules, and business cases for governance approval
- Ensure adherence to stage-gate project delivery processes
- Manage project execution including design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and qualification
- Oversee vendor and contractor performance to ensure delivery against project objectives.
- Drive compliance with GMP, regulatory requirements, and corporate engineering standards
- Collaborate with QC, QA, Validation, IT (AIT), and Engineering teams to align project deliverables.
- Manage project budgets, cost tracking, and cash flow forecasting using SAP or similar tools
- Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring minimal impact on site operations
- Coordinate and support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) in collaboration with CQV/Validation teams.
- Ensure effective planning and scheduling across multiple concurrent activities
- Lead project meetings and stakeholder communication, including senior leadership updates
- Deliver full project closeout documentation in line with governance requirements
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 5 – 7+ years’ experience delivering CAPEX projects in a GMP pharmaceutical or biologics environment
- Proven track record of managing projects across the full lifecycle
- Strong understanding of project management principles (scope, cost, schedule, risk)
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a regulated environment
- Knowledge of GMP, validation processes, and regulatory compliance requirements
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills
- Proficiency in MS Project / Excel / standard PM tools
Desirable Experience
- Experience delivering QC lab or laboratory systems projects (instrumentation, LIMS, CDS, etc.)
- Exposure to biologics manufacturing environments
- Experience with SAP and project financial tracking
- Understanding of data integrity and lab system integration (AIT/IT)
- Previous involvement in validation-heavy projects (IQ/OQ/PQ)
