Your New Role
The Fabric Technician will be responsible for delivering high-quality building fabric maintenance across client sites, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements. This role supports the wider facilities management team and ensures buildings remain compliant, presentable, and fully functional.
Responsibilities
Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on building fabric elements such as doors, windows, ceilings, flooring, partitions, and internal finishes.
- Undertake reactive repairs including carpentry, patch plastering, painting, basic plumbing, and other minor building works.
- Complete small works and minor refurbishment tasks as required.
General Building Fabric Tasks
- Perform joinery tasks such as hanging doors, fitting locks, replacing hinges, and repairing timber structures.
- Carry out minor plumbing work including unblocking sinks, replacing taps, repairing toilet mechanisms, and checking for leaks.
- Basic electrical tasks within competency (e.g., replacing lamps, checking fittings).
- Patch repairs to walls, tiling, and floors.
- Painting and decorating to maintain the site's appearance.
- Assist with furniture moving and minor installation work.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Irish building regulations, health & safety procedures, and site-specific rules.
- Complete all job sheets, service records, risk assessments, and compliance documentation accurately and on time.
- Report any potential hazards, defects, or required follow-up work to the Facilities Manager.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Proven experience in a building fabric, maintenance technician, handyperson, or similar FM role.
- Trade qualified background
- Strong carpentry and general building maintenance skills.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve building issues efficiently.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices, including safe use of tools and equipment.
- Full clean Irish driving licence (advantageous)
