They have a strong track-record of delivering Design and Construction support across many sectors including Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, Industrial, Education, Health, Commercial and Residential.


Your new role

DJF Engineering Services are partnering with Hays Recruitment to hire an experienced Structural Engineer for their office in Douglas, Cork.

The successful candidate will be placed within a close-knit team of Engineers, Technicians and Project Managers, with the opportunity to work across a wide variety of projects.

This role also offers an excellent opportunity for professional development, offering the chance to work across all stages of project execution including Health & Safety, Design Team Coordination, Revit/BIM Design, Detailed Design, Local Authority Approvals, Construction Stage Support and Project Handover.

There are also opportunities to develop skills on complementary roles, e.g. Project Engineering and Project Management.

What you'll need to succeed

Minimum Level 8 Degree in Structural Engineering.
Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience of Structural Design.
Minimum 3 years’ experience of taking a lead design role on projects.
Chartered Engineer or nearing Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.

Relevant experience ideally includes:
Designing building structures using reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, proprietary roofing and cladding products, composite floors.
Designing alterations and modifications to building structures.
Designing foundations, pile caps, retaining structures.
Specifying and reviewing site investigations.
Preparing sketches to illustrate designs.
Writing technical reports.
Reviewing and checking completeness and accuracy of tender drawings.
Inspecting construction works and preparing site reports.
Coordinating designs with other disciplines.
Familiarity with the requirements and implementation of the Irish Building Regulations.

Must be aware of a Designer’s responsibilities under the Health & Safety Regulations.
Have an understanding of project stages, team roles, standard industry practices and procedures.
An ability to work within a multidisciplinary team environment and communicate clearly with other team members.
Self-motivated and with an ability to produce accurate work to strict project deadlines.
Must be able to plan, organise and implement concurrent tasks and projects.
Perform work in compliance with our Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015).
Flexible and enthusiastic team player with an attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience of projects in the life sciences/pharmaceutical sector would be an advantage.
Experience of preparing contract documents, Project Engineering or Project Management would be an advantage.
Revit & BIM experience and competency would be an advantage.
