Senior Mechanical Engineer – Design and Delivery – Energy and Industrial Projects

Your New Company
Your new company is an award-winning, leading consultancy in Ireland and Europe. For 20 years, they have held an excellent reputation for delivering industry-leading designs and engineering solutions. They have a superb record in the design of sustainable concepts across all sectors of the building industry, with this being assisted by the latest building simulation software.
They are currently hiring for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead on the Design and Delivery of energy and industrial projects.

Your New Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the delivery of mechanical building services / MEP design for energy, industrial and commercial projects within a multidisciplinary building services consultancy environment. The role focusses on the design of base-build and building services systems for complex and regulated facilities, rather than process or manufacturing equipment design.
You will manage the full project lifecycle from concept through to client handover, build strong client relationships, and mentor engineering staff to ensure all deliverables meet the required technical and quality standards.
This is a hybrid role based in Ireland, with attendance at the Dublin office aligned to team and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical building services design on energy, industrial and commercial projects from concept stage through to completion
  • Represent at Client and Design Team Meetings
  • Deliver mechanical services solutions for buildings, including manufacturing, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, life sciences, laboratories and commercial developments.
  • Design and specify HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, utilities and life safety systems in line with consultancy-led building services best practice.
  • Develop mechanical services designs for ATEX-classified environments, cleanrooms and laboratories, coordinating closely with safety and compliance requirements
  • Coordinate mechanical building services designs with architectural, structural, electrical, process and client stakeholders
  • Carry out continuous design and installation quality checks to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable standards
  • Prepare fully detailed mechanical building services tender packages, technical reports, analyses and recommendations
  • Support construction stages through technical queries, site visits and coordination with contractors and vendors.
  • Take technical ownership of projects, operating with minimal input from senior management
  • Mentor, guide and review the work of junior and intermediate engineers, ensuring QA standards are met prior to issue.

What You Need to Succeed
Experience & Qualifications
  • Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services or a related discipline
  • 7+ years’ experience in mechanical building services/MEP Design, ideally within a consultancy setting
  • Project experience across energy, industrial and/or commercial sectors
  • Experience working alongside process engineers, with responsibility for base-build and building services systems, not process equipment design
  • Chartered Engineer status is an advantage but not essential.
  • Must be based in Ireland but have a visa for travel within Europe on occasion.
Technical Skills
  • Strong experience in mechanical building services / MEP systems design within a consultancy environment
  • Proven expertise delivering HVAC and building services systems for industrial buildings
  • Working knowledge of ATEX directives and mechanical design considerations in hazardous environments
  • In-depth understanding of CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS and EN standards
  • Proficient in Navisworks, Bluebeam and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with consultancy QA processes, design coordination and technical governance
