Your new role
In your new role as a Social Care Worker, you will promote the emotional, physical, religious, and social well-being of each child. You will participate in the implementation and development of placement and care plans and carry out the necessary report writing of same. You will also attend team meetings and report to the social care leader or manager on any issues that may affect the delivery of the service. As a social care worker, you will also make regular verbal and written reports to the social care leader on the progress of the young person. You will also participate in regular professional supervision and training and development.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful as a Social Care Worker, you will have a QQI level 7 qualification in Social Care or related field. You will have experience working in the mainstream sector and a full clean driving licence. You will have knowledge of theory and practice in relation to the delivery of childcare practice and understand relevant therapeutic approaches. You will also have knowledge of the relevant policies and professional and legislative standards for a children’s residential service. It would be advantageous to have experience as a key worker, working effectively as a team member and prioritising workloads. Conflict resolution skills and having the ability to empathise with others would make you a strong candidate.
